1 September 2008 - Hurricane Gustav - After the Sunday evening roll call, the net stayed activated for the next 24 hours to support hurricane relief efforts. Net controls KD4EFM and KG4EXA handled most of the traffic and provide a large number of weather reports during the event. Special appearances as Net Control operators were made by N5AI, N5VRP, WA4YIH, and a few others during the period.
31 August 2008 - Southeastern Weather Net - As Hurricane Gustav approached, there were a number of repeaters and stations checking into the net. This evening had 56 users checking in and 24 repeaters connected. Current Tropical Advisories were read and situation reports from Shreveport, New Orleans, and San Antonio were given.
3 August 2008 - Southeastern Weather Net - This
evening's net welcomed the W5GAD repeater in New Orleans, KI4SAZ in
Magnolia Springs, AL, and the WD5STR repeater in San Antonio.
A weather system south of Florida is threatening Texas. If the
situation worsens, all stations are asked to monitor REF002A in case
assistance is required.
24 July 2008 - Southeastern Weather Net - Closed - Dolly has been downgraded to a depression. During the net a number of repeaters and stations monitored the reflector, luckily no assistance was needed during the net.
21 July 2008 - Southeastern Weather Net - STANDBY - With the pending landfall of Tropical Storm Dolly, the net is being placed on standby. Repeaters may connect to the reflector and standby in the case assistance is needed. Talking during idle periods is allowable. If any emergency or priority traffic occurs, all stations should standby and assist as necessary.
20 July 2008 - Southeastern Weather Net - This evening we welcomed the KJ4BWK repeater in Charlotte SC to the net. There were 12 repeaters and 31 check-ins for the evening.

13 July 2008 - Southeastern Weather Net - This evening the K4DSO Repeater joined the net with WB4FAY, W4ATK, and KE4DZU checking in. The net had 12 repeaters and 25 check ins for the evening.
29 June 08 - Southeastern Weather Net - After staying up for Field Day, a 9 PM Sunday night net just isn't something that is on everyone's priority list. There were 13 repeaters and 18 check-ins for the Field Day Net.
22 June 08 - Southeastern Weather Net - Things are getting bigger. This evenings net had 16 repeaters and over 35 check ins. KD4EFM provided the Tropical Weather Forecast and WA4YIH updated everyone on D-STAR Field Day.

repeaters linked in with 26 stations checking in. KD4EFM provided
the Tropical Weather Forecast and US Severe Weather Forecast. WA4YIH
acted as Net control
Connected repeaters were WD4STR-C GA, KJ4BDF-B GA, KI4SBA-C GA,
W4DOC-C GA, W5SHV-C LA, KI4WXS-B NC, W0OMB-B MO, KJ4ACN-C FL,
KZ2TGB-C NJ
While a little outside of our weather zone, we also had a few
stations from Australia check in.
All stations and repeaters are welcome to check in to the net.
Repeaters and DVDongle users should connect to the REF002A reflector
at about 15 minutes prior to the net. Repeater roll call begins at 5
minutes before the net.
14 June 08 - Southeastern D-STAR Repeaters Admins - A Yahoo Group DSTARSEADMINS has been created for system operators in the Southeastern Gulf. If you are a system administrator or a support club official, please feel free to join the group. One of the major uses of the net will be organization during a weather event.
9 June 08 - Atlanta Net - The Atlanta net is transforming into the Southeastern Weather Net. If there are any repeaters in the Southeastern Gulf Coast area that would like to join the net, please join us Sunday evenings at 9:00 PM EDT. We will being linking the repeaters at about 8:45. We will be using REF002A for the net.
9 June 08 - Southeastern DSTAR Admin Group - To foster communications between Southeastern D-STAR group and associated organization administrators, a Yahoo group has been created. This group is also envisioned as a mechanism to communicate about weather related events in the Gulf Coast area. Administrators please join the group dstarseadmins at groups.yahoo.com.
9 June 08 - The Tallahassee repeater finally got their gateway on the air. The repeater is at a temporary location, but will soon go on top of one the local high buildings. Only the 443.95 +5 module is on the air at this time. the callsign is K4WAK B.
8 June 08 - The Louisiana repeater, W5SHV in Shreveport joined the net this evening, along with the Buford KJ4BDF repeater. This brings the number of linked repeaters to 5 and the check-in's to 15.
The Atlanta area repeaters are testing the use of the reflectors for net operations. After a few issues with linking, it looks like the Memorial Day Weekend net managed to get all of the ducks in a row. After one or two more nets, we will start increasing the of repeaters on the net. This is a prelude to hurricane operations in the Southeast.
With Atlanta as the home of FEMA Region IV, the Atlanta area is attempting to assure great communications with the remainder of the region, especially the coastal areas.
